My Aged Care Regional Assessment Service (RAS)

APM carries out Aged Care home support assessments on behalf of Government.

How it works

From July 2015, The My Aged Care Regional Assessment Service (RAS) has been set up by the Australian Government to help older people access support in the home more quickly and easily.

The first step to this process is making contact with the My Aged Care Contact Centre on 1800 200 422, where you will be referred to either:

  • A home support assessment (performed by APM or another RAS provider),
  • A comprehensive assessment, which would be performed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) 

During a home support assessment, your assessor will come to your home and talk to you about what kind of services may make your life easier. You may receive referrals for assistance with household chores, gardening, transport, personal care and nursing. The RAS assessor will also discuss with you other services that might be of benefit to help you remain independent in your own home.
