The countdown is on for the start of a new support system to help Australian job seekers find lasting employment.

On 1 July the jobactive program delivered by APM Employment Services to help job seekers find work, changes to Workforce Australia.

APM Employment Services has been named a Workforce Australia Services provider and the dedicated team will continue supporting job seekers in communities across the country.

The new system includes online services for job seekers to manage their own employment search while receiving income support via Centrelink.

Job seekers who will require in-person support in their search for employment will be referred to APM Employment Services or other providers, depending on their location.

The new system aims to allow providers to spend more time helping job seekers find suitable training, resources and other support to secure long-term employment.

In specific regions APM Employment Services has also be selected to provide Specialist Services to support Indigenous job seekers and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

What about jobactive?

Job seekers currently registered as participants with APM Employment Services for jobactive are being informed of how they will transition to Workforce Australia Services.

In some regions this may include moving to another organisation who is the designated Workforce Australia Services provider for that location.

To keep getting income support payments, jobactive participants must also continue to work with their provider to meet their mutual obligations.

From 4 July 2022 participants will have more choice and flexibility in how they manage obligations with a new Points Based Activation System. Participants can speak to their providers about the new system and what it means for their individual programs.
