Tyson’s potential was obvious straight away to Jennifer
Employment Consultant Jennifer from APM Katoomba had a good first impression of Tyson from the start.
Having approached APM in early 2020, he was looking to build up his limited work experience. Tyson’s barriers also included struggles with anxiety, and living with no fixed address for a period of time.
Tyson looked to APM for more than just assistance locating employment, he needed direction in his life.
“I saw straight away Tyson had the potential to succeed in the right job” Jennifer recalled.
“What he lacked in experience he made up for with eagerness to turn his life around. He never missed an appointment.”
Without a driver’s license or a resume, Jennifer worked to overcome these barriers by approaching a well-known and respected family run business – Blackheath Automotive Services.
Owners George and Suzie worked with Jennifer to arrange an interview with Tyson. APM assisted by providing appropriate interview clothes for Tyson to wear.
Seeing potential in Tyson, George and Suzie offered him a job which enabled him to reach his benchmark hours.
And they did not stop there.
Together with APM, George and Suzie organised for Tyson to obtain his license, which he did successfully.
Since his employment, Tyson has never missed a shift and has been diligent from the outset.
After his probation period, APM offered a wage subsidy for Tyson which was taken up by his employer. This has helped Blackheath Automotive Services continue to employ him throughout COVID-19.
The APM Katoomba commends Tyson for all his hard work and dedication in reaching six months in his role.
