SANFL APM Inclusive League prepares to start

The SANFL APM Inclusive League is gathering momentum as it prepares to kick off its 2020 campaign on Saturday July 11.

Including 10 minor round matches and a two-week finals series, the 2020 SANFL APM Inclusive League will be shortened by just one week despite the impact of Covid-19 restrictions this year.

Reigning premier Eastern Park will be seeking to defend its crown when games are played from 5pm each Saturday after A-grade Adelaide Footy League matches.

Goodwood Saints, last year’s runner-up, Kenilworth, Salisbury and Christies Beach will be trying their best to ensure the Demons don’t salute again on Saturday September 26.

SANFL Disability Programs Coordinator Nathan Pepper said excitement was building as teams had already begun training in preparation for the 2020 season.

”The SANFL APM Inclusive League plays a critical role for the development of players with a disability and their social inclusion at community football clubs,” Pepper said.

”This year has been challenging for all, however, many players with disability face social isolation outside of COVID-19, so it is fantastic we are able to start the 2020 season and connect players back to their clubs and teammates.”

Last year Inclusive League player Ben Horn, pictured, received assistance from league sponsor APM to prepare and find employment.

Australia’s biggest provider of Disability Employment Services – APM Employment Services – is once again pleased to continue as the league’s naming rights partner for this season.

Employment Services CEO Karen Rainbow said APM was committed to opening doors and helping change attitudes so more people with disability can play sport and increase their fitness and social participation.

“Everyone has a right to enjoy sport, get fit and make new friends,” Ms Rainbow said.

“We all have a role to play in breaking down barriers and making Australia more inclusive, and APM is once again very pleased to support the league.”

Entering its second season, the SANFL APM Inclusive League was formerly the C7 Division in the Adelaide Footy League. Registrations are still open for males with a disability aged 15 and over.

The fixture is expected to be released by the end of the month.
