Ms Paul is one of Australia's most senior and respected policy makers and most recently served as Secretary for the Department of Education and Training. Ms Paul left the public service in January to pursue interests in the private sector.
The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull cited her "substantial contribution to the development of education and employment policy in Australia".
Ms Paul joins APM at an exciting time in the development of the national and international businesses.
APM Chairman Paul Fiddes welcomed Ms Paul's non-executive appointment, saying her knowledge and insight in education, employment and workplace sectors will help position APM for its next phase of growth.
"Ms Paul joins APM at a time of significant growth and opportunity," he said. "APM is seeking to expand the business into new sectors and territory, and we look forward to Ms Paul playing a pivotal role."
Ms Paul was previously the Chief Executive of the Department of Education; before that the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations; and the Department of Education, Science and Training.
She was also Deputy CEO at the Department of Education, Science and Training, the Department of Family and Community Services and the Health Insurance Commission.
She has extensive board and executive experience across a number of sectors, including education, employment and workplace relations.
