Disengagement costs employers up to 34% of worker salary

What is the ‘International Week of Happiness at Work’ and does Australia need one?

Because 71% of Australians are not engaged with their jobs, according to a Gallup Report.

Started by a passionate team from the Netherlands in 2018, this initiative seeks to remind people of the importance of investing in happiness at work.

Held in the last week of September, nearly 60 countries have now jumped on board with their own take on this amazing concept.

Why is happiness at work important?

Given the amount of time spent at work, it’s not surprising it’s come to be linked to our level of life satisfaction.

Additionally, many workers are now working from home, blurring the work-life balance for some. A sense of competency, autonomy and relatedness in our work drive our motivation - wherever we’re working from.

A workplace culture that values and fosters happiness and engagement is a proven winner.

Happy employees:

  • Are 12% more productive
  • Secure 37% more sales
  • Complete tasks with 19% more accuracy
  • Stay where they feel valued and content.
  • Have reduced rates of absenteeism and staff turnover
