WorkCare Advisor - Winter Newsletter August 2019

Published on 08 Aug 2019

Welcome to the winter edition of the newsletter

What a winter so far! I have enjoyed the tropics of Far North Queensland and crisp (I’m being kind) mornings in Canberra – what a wonderful diverse country we live in. #bringonsummer

As usual we aim to bring you an informative read with industry insights and APM highlights.

The year kicked off with the completion of the Ingeus acquisition we announced in November. This expansion in our 25th year, gives APM a presence in 10 countries with over 5,500 staff working with 350,000 clients at any one time.

One of the largest values-driven human services providers in the world I hear you ask? That’s a yes.

Pretty cool for a rehab company started in Perth 25 years ago by occupational therapist Megan Wynne, who remains our Managing Director.

More on APM growth and acquisitions a little later.

In this issue we talk about the new Clinical Guidelines for Work-Related Mental Health Conditions and I continue our series on NPS and discuss the relevance of this measure in healthcare.

We will give you some tips for achieving a Thriving Ageing Workforce and bring you up to date on health, safety and compensation updates from each state and territory.

Did you know that one in four employees drives a car as part of their job – our vehicle assessment expert, Tim Williams, gives some insight.

We will also bring some highlights in from our Workplace Health & Technology Group from LinkedIn that has covered some great ground in the last few months, get onboard if you’re not already.

We’re also entering our award season, hot off winning the Best Support Person of the Year at the Young Insurance Professionals Awards (not me) we have two of our Consultants shortlisted for the Victorian ARPA industry awards, and look forward to the finalists being announced across the rest of the country – we’ll keep you informed through social media on the good news stories.

As always if you would like us to publish on an area of interest or have any feedback please send me a note.

APM Australian business updates

So far in 2019 we have welcomed Ingeus to the APM business and also expanded our APM Training capability through the acquisition of MCI Solutions.

Both these organisations are adding great breadth to our corporate offering now encompassing workplace health, psychological services, disability and training, let me know if you’d like to talk more about how the APM Group can help your business.

Assure Programs, part of the Ingeus group, is one of Australia’s leading mental health and wellbeing organisations, caring for over 1 million people across 500 customer organisations, with a reputation for clinical quality and trusted partnerships built up over almost 30 years.

Assure deliver a range of programs including EAP, Manager support and critical incident response along with strong capability in organisational development.

This acquisition adds great depth to APM’s mental health capability and we are already enjoying bringing our combined health offering to many shared customers.

MCI Solutions is an innovative learning consultancy bringing professional development, instructional design and certified qualifications to corporate Australia.

MCI are able to deliver full instructional design projects, bringing learning expertise to organisations through a range of methods, including inhouse, online, and micro-bite learning methodologies.

They also deliver certified qualifications in leadership as well as Work, Health and Safety, and offer LEGO Serious Play which is a lot of fun and fantastic for teambuilding!

Hope you enjoy the content in this issue of the WorkCare Advisor.
