The NEIS program has been delivered by APM Employment Services since February 2020. It was previously delivered by Konekt Employment.
If you have a good idea for a business but don’t know where to start, you may be able to access small business training and support through the NEIS program.
Provided you’re not currently in employment, education or training and you meet the requirements, NEIS can help you create a business plan, provide you with training in small business and provide you with business advice and mentoring for the first 12 months.
The accredited training in small business is provided at no cost, available through a Registered Training Organisation (Cert lll in Micro Business Operations or Cert IV New Small Business).
During the classroom time you will learn how to prepare a business plan and financial projections for your business. This may sound daunting but the good news is that there are no prerequisites for NEIS, so even if you have no experience, the course teaches you everything you need to know.
The NEIS program also provides ongoing mentoring for twelve months. Having a mentor means you have someone to brainstorm with, and who can offer you advice and help keep you focused and motivated.
In addition to the training and mentoring, for those who are eligible job seekers, or on a benefit or from a disadvantaged background, an ongoing support payment may be available for nine months to help you get started.
