An APM WorkCare rehab consultant has picked up the top prize for innovation in workplace rehabilitation.
Dylan Slater (second from right) received the New South Wales Workplace Rehabilitation Award for innovation for launching a self-help manual for Australian Defence Force personnel discharging medically from service.|
The manual helps ADF members and navigate the complex careers transitions process while promoting the value of work during a significant and often difficult period of change.
It also aids consultants in applying the careers transitions process to their ADF clients.
APM WorkCare delivers career transitions services on ADF bases across Australia. The service aims to help support ADF personnel who are leaving the service or who can no longer carry out their duties due to injury, illness or disability.
As part of the award, judges considered the success Dylan had with supporting his clients in their recovery and how well his innovative approach promoted the health benefits of work.
As well as being able to support ADF members when they were no longer fit for service, Dylan was praised for his work in managing complex chronic pain cases.
Dylan was awarded the Innovation in Return to Work at the ARPA National Awards ceremony in Sydney’s Doltone House in Hyde Park where fellow APM WorkCare consultant Sam Rooney was also a finalist.
