Goolwa Caravan Centre’s diversity journey pays off transcript

So APM, they send people out they know are going to be suitable, or close to being suitable, we give them a trial run and get to know them and they get to know our business. we've got four guys in the shed now that have come from APM and they've all been real successful.

Gary works at the Goolwa Caravan Center and he's on the front desk and he helps with sales, reception, calls, public facing, getting to help people every day.

Credit to APM as well. They do select people that are suitable for the roles. Gary had a history in caravan maintenance repairs , so he knew the industry fairly well, and I was alerted that very early on that he may be very suitable. We're looking at some more candidates now, that same thing again, they’re in rolls very similar or have been. So APM really assists in matching their people to our needs.

The very first day I went there, and met Amos, I could tell instantly that we just click straight away. To go in there and be accepted was fantastic. The blokes all accepted me really, really well and to hit the perfect job like that, that just suited my skillset was just - was quite unbelievable really.

I'm very time poor so APM take care of whatever we need to happen They look after guys if they got uniform issues or personal issues, they try and help them out in that way as well. So there's always that support for myself and for the employees. We’ve have had special equipment come in and been put in for some of the employees as well. We've had some lifts in for people with bad backs. A lot of the office staff have posture equipment just to help them during the daily exercise. They assist with all those kind of things. A lot of the support helps them overcome any issues they've got and integrate them into our business. So we've always found that the staff fit well in all of our roles. Gary's a firecracker, he's amazing. He doesn't stop. From day one, he's just been an asset to the business. He’s always helped and has always been happy and interacts with our customers and represents the business really well. He's just a really outgoing energetic guy.
