Alex and Ingeus Germany
10 years ago, Alex was leading a typical life in Ukraine, working as an electrician.
In the years since, he has worked in many different roles, which gave him a lot of options to follow in his job search in Germany.
But then a conversation with Tina at Ingeus sparked an old passion.
“I was a wholesaler, I was a salesperson, I was a store manager, and my team and I sold household appliances,” says Alex.
At the end of 2025, his job search led him to Ingeus Germany, where his Job Support Coach Tina helped him develop his CV and write application letters.
She explained the German job market to him and how the application process works. It quickly put his nerves at ease.
When Tina first read his CV, it was clear to her that Alex was a salesperson, and she thought he should apply for these positions.
But as they spoke, she began to realise something. “I noticed that his heart actually beats for being an electrician again. And then we said, ‘Okay, you're going to apply as an electrician’.”
Together, they changed direction and began looking for opportunities that would bring Alex back to electrical and technical work.
“For me, working with technology is much better than working with people,” Alex says.
“I can work with people, but I prefer to work with technology.”
Ingeus connected Alex with Westnetz GmbH, which runs the We Start project for people with migration or integration backgrounds, where participants are selected and trained for roles within the organisation.
Alex is now working as a Network Technician with Westnetz in Siegburg.
Network Operations Manager Paul Willms believes Alex brings exactly the qualities the organisation needs.
“Alex is incredibly motivated, and that's exactly what we need,” says Paul.
He sees Alex’s desire to learn and establish a new life in Germany as a valuable contribution to Westnetz’s work supporting the energy transition and ensuring a stable power grid.
“We, at Westnetz, can only benefit from such people,” says Paul. “We truly value having Alex on board.”
