Christmas appeal helps families in need

Team members across APM Employment Services have secured $30,000 to help families in need this Christmas.

As part of an annual campaign to support The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal, team members across APM were challenged to assist 4,000 people into employment over four weeks.

Team members from more than 500 locations deliver programs including Disability Employment Services, Workforce Australia, NDIS Employment Supports and Transition to Work.

APM employment Services CEO Karen Rainbow presents a cheque to The Salvos

The yearly fundraiser has been a big success in recent years to enable better lives for more Australians as well as those participating in the programs.

This year saw 4,148 participants achieve employment during the campaign, surpassing the original target.

Presenting a cheque to Major Warren Elliott from The Salvation Army, APM Employment Services CEO Karen Rainbow praised the team’s dedication to the challenge.

“The Salvation Army across Australia has experienced a sharp increase in the demand across its services and are anticipating even greater demand this Christmas,” she said.

“APM’s donation will go a long way to helping some of Australia’s most vulnerable people feel safe and secure this festive season.”

The donation helps The Salvation Army continue to deliver vital services and support to people experiencing hardship this festive season.

This could be in the form of:

  • A Christmas hamper, full of essentials
  • Gifts for children, who would otherwise receive none
  • An invitation to one of The Salvation Army’s Christmas lunches on Christmas day, so no one goes hungry or feels alone
  • Casework support to help a family find safe and secure housing, so they can start working towards rebuilding their life
