Rudi's road to better work and health

Rudi faced significant challenges before joining APM.

Unemployed for four years, he struggled with motivation and needed additional support to re-enter the workforce.

Living with bipolar disorder, Rudi was determined to improve his financial, mental, and physical wellbeing through steady employment.

Support and guidance

Rudi’s journey with APM began with a clear goal - to find meaningful work and regain his sense of purpose.

His dedicated employment consultant, Kaye, worked closely with him to map out an employment pathway through Disability Employment Services.

APM provided comprehensive support, including assistance with a rehabilitation program, updating his resume, and creating a compelling cover letter.

Skills and training

Rudi took a significant step forward by enrolling in and completing his traffic control tickets and Heavy Rigid Driver Training to obtain an HR-M license.

This training equipped him with the skills needed for a new career path.

Securing employment

APM’s Employer Account Manager (EAM), Ahmed, identified a suitable role for Rudi with Contra Flow.

Soon after Rudi successfully secured a position as a traffic controller.

His employer was able to access a wage subsidy and Kaye provided weekly post-placement support to ensure a smooth transition.

Thriving in his new role

Rudi is now thriving in his role as a traffic controller and is on track to complete 26 weeks of employment.

He has regained his sense of purpose and is looking forward to achieving his future goal of becoming a traffic controller in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

The impact of employment

Rudi’s success story highlights the positive impact of employment on health and wellbeing.

It also showcases the benefits of Disability Employment Services for both job seekers and employers.

Employers gain dedicated, skilled employees, while individuals like Rudi find renewed purpose and stability.
