Stephen finds renewed purpose in supporting others

A cancer survivor facing ongoing health challenges, Stephen was determined to rebuild his life and find meaningful and inclusive employment.

With the help of APM Employment Services at Oaklands Park, Stephen discovered a new path in the community services sector.

After enrolling in a Certificate III in Community Services, Stephen gained the qualifications he needed to pursue a career in support work.

Finding a role at United Abilities, Stephen was moving forward again but needed support to achieve his long-term goals.

He was eager to increase his hours and workload to meet his financial goals and build a more stable future.

Employment consultant Jody worked closely with Stephen, offering regular post-placement support and encouragement.

Together, they navigated the challenges of building up his hours and strengthening his role.

Stephen’s dedication soon paid off and he was able to achieve more work.

He now enjoys a fulfilling job where he’s formed strong connections with his clients.

“I am very satisfied with the services provided and would like to extend my gratitude to Jody, who went further than the extra mile on my behalf,” Stephen shared.

Jody reflected on Stephen’s progress with admiration.

“Starting over and finding a career he loves is truly inspiring. His connection with his clients and the appreciation he shows for the support he has received make it a privilege to work with him.”

Stephen is now focused on continuing his work in the disability support sector, with hopes of expanding his skills and making an even greater impact.
