Emma's story transcript

Emma: Getting out of bed every morning means something. I'm not just floating through the day. I'm Emma, and I'm 26. I've suffered from depression and anxiety, and I have end stage kidney failure. I had nothing to do during the day, but focus on what wasn't going right in life. It was really hard to find a job that was flexible.

Carmen: So, what APM did is we tried to find an employer where Emma was able to be outdoors. So, we found the Green Shed.

Sharon: Disability is irrelevant to me. I don't even ask. Everyone's capable of doing something no matter how big or small, and I think Emma surprised herself in being able to do a lot more than she even thought herself.

Emma: The right job for me was important to APM. It wasn't just get me into any sort of job. And at the end of the day, I've done something productive. I've done something for myself.
