Our teams guide eligible people through the Disability Employment Services program and support them to achieve employment goals.

How to refer to APM

Who can make a referral to APM?

Anyone can refer people to APM for Disability Employment Services if the person they are referring is eligible for the program.

Our local teams work with organisations and referrers in communities around Australia to enhance the support they provide people with disability.

People and organisations who commonly refer participants to APM include:

Teachers, schools and youth organisations
People who support NDIS participants
Workforce Australia Services providers
Services Australia (Centrelink) offices
Allied health providers
Community organisations

Who is eligible for DES?

General eligibility for Disability Employment Services requires participants to be:

living with a disability, injury, or health condition that affects their ability to work
an Australian resident aged from 14 to 67
at or above the minimum legal working age in their state or territory
receiving an income support payment or Disability Support Pension
able to work between eight to 30 hours per week (with support if needed)
not studying full time (unless an eligible school leaver)
not already working at or above an assessed work capacity

NDIS participants or school leavers with disability may also be eligible for DES support.

What to expect with APM

Eligible participants of Disability Employment Services with APM each have a tailored approach to their support and program with our dedicated teams.

While each participant’s program is different it may include:

job search assistance and career advice
accessing training to be competitive in local labour markets
help with resumes, applications, cover letters and interviews
accessing support services, health, and wellbeing activities linked to employment goals
accessing funds for transport or work-related expenses
further support in the workplace when they start work
accessing funds for workplace modifications if required
