Initially, Daniel,33, wanted a career in traffic management. Unfortunately, his vision impairment made him ineligible to complete the necessary qualification, which requires 20/20 vision.
Feeling disheartened but not defeated, Daniel sought guidance from APM Employment Services.
Working with his employment consultant Rebecca, Daniel explored alternative job opportunities as part of his support in the Disability Employment Services program.
When they found a potential job washing trucks at B & K Bulk Haulage. Daniel was eager to give it a go.
Daniel met with Kacey, the manager at B & K Bulk Haulage, accompanied by Rebecca.
Kacey was immediately impressed by Daniel's enthusiasm and offered him a trial position on the spot.
After a successful trial, Rebecca worked with the employer to access a wage subsidy, securing Daniel a permanent position.
Thrilled with his new job, Daniel was ready to tackle his financial challenges.
And Rebecca’s support didn’t end, APM helped him with funds to buy the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure he could work safely.
And as Daniel couldn't drive due to his vision impairment, and public transport wasn't available, APM provided him with an electric scooter, ensuring he could commute easily.
With continuous support, dedication and hard work, Daniel has been able to achieve financial security and support himself and his partner.
Daniel's employers, Ben and Kacey, have been consistently impressed with his performance, recently remarking,
“He is an absolute rockstar.”
