What is Inclusive Employment Australia?

Support to get job-ready, find work and stay employed

Inclusive Employment Australia is a government-funded program that supports people living with disability, injury, or a health condition to get ready for work, find a suitable role, and stay employed long term.

When you access Inclusive Employment Australia with APM in Sydney, you’ll work with a local employment consultant who takes the time to understand your needs, strengths and goals. 

Together, you’ll build a plan that helps you move towards the right job, at a pace that works for you.


What support can you access through Inclusive Employment Australia?

When you take part in Inclusive Employment Australia in Sydney, you may be able to access a variety of supports tailored to your situation, such as:

  • help to manage any personal or health-related challenges that may impact your ability to work
  • exploring job paths that align with your interests, experience and strengths
  • local job search support and guidance with applications
  • resume writing help and interview preparation
  • access to training or short courses to build your skills and boost your confidence

If you're already working, APM may also be able to support you in your current role with:

  • advice on workplace adjustments or assistive technology
  • coaching to help you settle into the job and navigate challenges
  • ongoing support to help you stay employed in a way that works for you

Am I eligible for Inclusive Employment Australia in Sydney?

You may be able to access Inclusive Employment Australia with APM if you:

  • are living with disability, injury, or a health condition that makes it harder to find or keep a job
  • are aged between 14 and 67 and live in Australia
  • meet the legal working age in New South Wales
  • can work up to 30 hours a week, with the right support in place if required
  • are not studying full-time (unless you qualify as a school leaver)
  • are not already working the number of hours you’ve been assessed as capable of doing

APM works with people across Sydney who experience a wide range of disabilities, injuries and health conditions.

You can start Inclusive Employment Australia in Sydney by registering directly with APM, or by being referred through Centrelink.

If Centrelink completes your employment assessment, you can ask to be referred to APM so you can access local support from day one.

How APM supports you from the start

When you sign up with APM, your journey begins with an appointment with a local employment consultant in Sydney. Their role is to get to know you, understand your goals, and work alongside you to find the right job.

This first meeting is all about learning more about your situation and showing how Inclusive Employment Australia can support you. Your consultant will be your main point of contact, guiding you through each stage of the program.

At your first appointment, your consultant will:

  • explain the types of support you can access through APM
  • give you our Service Guarantee and Code of Practice
  • outline your rights and responsibilities in the program
  • create a personalised plan based on your strengths and employment goals
  • discuss how a disability, injury or health condition may influence your job search
  • identify training, workplace adjustments or tools that may help reduce barriers
