APM First Nations - Rochelle transcript

Rochelle: My name’s Rochelle Haynes. I work in people and culture as an administrator. I started my APM career nearly four years ago. I am a mum. A proud Worimi Indigenous woman. And I have five beautiful children that keep me quite busy and on the go. And I enjoy giving back to the public and living life to the fullest. The mob that which I, my cultural background is from is Worimi. So that comes from my mother’s side of the family, with my grandfather being a proud Sansom man. It wasn’t until my later teens, early adulthood, that I started to look into that to find out exactly who we were, who I was, what my culture was. I grew up on a dairy farm, and it wasn’t until later on in life that one of the roads is actually named after Sansom, which is my mothers maiden name, which is a huge privilege within that, and learning about that every day and through the local land councils and community, you know, it’s just a positive. I think, qualities that are definitely embedded, within APM and make in employees that I work with, co-workers, and even any of our stakeholders, is we all have the same drive and the same passion to provide back to our community, enabling everyone’s life to the best that we actually can. And overall, having that self of pride at the end of the day that you know, we’ve helped someone along their journey and along their way. Whether it’s an employee that’s going through something that we can provide support to, to helping out clients, stakeholders and everyone, everyone’s treated exactly the same and we’re all here to enable better lives for everyone on a whole. So initially I started my career with APM in 2021 as an employment consultant in the Jobactive space, working in a health background for government. I still had that passion that I wanted to help people, and I just felt my values aligned with APM values. I’d always done recruitment, but I hadn’t, for over 24 years, I had never actually been on the other side. The process was so seamless. One thing that I love about APM in general with coming from a role as an EC initially, no two days are the same. So many different people to meet and engage with and it’s just a learning day, every single day. One of the things that, you know, drove me to APM was the branding of Enabling Better Lives and, you know, I’m very passionate about that. I believe it’s not only in your mind to do that, but also in your heart. And by enabling someone’s life, making that small difference, is going to develop them, which hopefully goes down through their culture and their heritage and their longevity for life and, you know, the branding itself just speaks volumes.
