What supporting people means to Lisa transcript

Lisa: I love this job. It’s rewarding. You don’t want to just get to know a person. It’s not a matter of just finding someone a job. Our participants have barriers. So you’re helping in all aspects of not just their employment, but their journey to employment. You have to be very determined in yourself. The clients that are coming to you, they’re coming to you because they need direction. They’re coming to you because they are a little bit lost and they don’t know where to start. So if you don’t have that determination to not only educate yourself but get tasks done, you’re going to have no success. It’s learned behaviour. You need to be able to demonstrate and show that you’re going to put your money where your moth is. You cannot be shy. You’ve got to engage in multiple different types of personalities throughout your day and employers. You’ve got to be able to go into an employer and stand your ground. And with 100% confidence, let them know that your participant is the participant for them. They are the person for the job, no questions asked. APM’s got your back to step up and try and help in any way that you can. And we’ve got a great management team. They’re very open. They really give you the freedom and the tools to do your job properly, even if it is out of the box occasionally. Super proud of what I do. I can make a change, especially when success stories like Melissa come. You really go home and feel like you’ve done something. You’ve made a change in someone’s life, and if you’ve done it right, they’ve made a change in yours too. So it’s a win-win.
