Kathryn finds confidence and a job she loves

Kathryn wanted to work, but life felt heavy

She was dealing with depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Even small things like going to appointments were hard.

Thinking about getting a job seemed too big.

Things started to change when she met Randall from APM Employment Services.

Randall listened and helped her take small steps as part of her inclusive employment support program.

Including introducing her to Job Club - an eight-week program where people learn job skills and meet others working towards their employment goals.

Kathryn was nervous, but knowing Randall would run the sessions made her feel safe.

She joined and started learning new skills each week.

Growing in confidence, Kathryn began to see what kind of job would suit her best.

Soon Kathryn started applying for jobs and even approached employers herself.

After finishing Job Club, she went to interviews and job trials.

It didn’t take long for her to get a job as an In-Home Cleaner and Hoarder Cleaner with New Life Purpose.

APM’s support didn’t stop either, with the team behind Kathryn while she settled into her new role.

Now she feels happy and proud.

“This experience with APM has been immensely supportive with a very positive outcome,” she says.

“APM walked alongside me providing encouragement on my good and bad days, to keep growing and to gaining very rewarding employment. This has been life changing!”

Kathryn also says New Life Purpose is a great company that cares about its workers.

She has now worked for more than a year and looks forward to more chances in her job.
