Emma finds stability through Inclusive Employment Australia

When Emma came to APM Employment Services through the Inclusive Employment Australia program, she was looking for something many people take for granted.

A stable job.

Living with epilepsy, Emma wanted to build a future through work and was eager to develop new skills and find the right opportunity.

Emma and Sandy celebrate Emma's successful employment outcome through Inclusive Employment Australia.

Working with her Employment Consultant Sandy at APM Earlville, Emma set her sights on a career in support work.

To help achieve her goal, Sandy assisted her to enrol in training that included work placements designed to provide hands-on experience and prepare her for employment.

Emma embraced the opportunity and was committed to making it work.

But the journey was far from easy.

Several placements fell through for reasons outside her control.

At the same time, Emma was also navigating significant personal challenges away from work.

Throughout every setback, Sandy remained by her side.

Weekly appointments, regular check-ins and ongoing encouragement helped Emma stay focused on her long-term goal of finding meaningful employment.

Rather than giving up, Emma continued moving forward.

Recognising Emma's determination and potential, Sandy began speaking with local employers to identify opportunities that would suit her skills and strengths.

One conversation changed everything.

Sandy contacted Greg from Trans North, a local transportation company, to discuss a vacancy and Emma's suitability for the role.

After learning more about Emma, Greg agreed to give her an opportunity.

Emma was offered a position supporting the safety of young people using public transport.

She started work soon after and quickly settled into her new role.

The position gave Emma what she had been working towards for so long.

Steady employment.

Financial stability.

And the chance to build confidence through meaningful work.

Sandy continues to check in regularly to provide ongoing support, helping Emma succeed in her role and navigate any challenges that arise.

When Emma recently returned to the APM Earlville office, the change was clear.

She was happier, more confident and proud of how far she had come.

"Sandy has been a rock for me through this whole process. Grateful for her support through this lengthy process,” Emma said.

At APM Employment Services, we're proud to help people like Emma connect with meaningful employment and support employers to build inclusive workplaces where people can thrive.
