How tailored support helps people thrive

At APM Employment Services, tailored support is key to helping job seekers succeed.

Amelia, a dedicated APM employment consultant, shares how this personalised approach makes a real difference.

When job seekers first connect with APM, Amelia and her team take the time to understand their unique situations as they become participants in a suitable employment program.

They ask about hobbies, interests, and career goals.

“At the initial appointment, we'll ask questions just a bit about what their hobbies are, what their interests are, and what they see themselves doing,” Amelia explains.

This helps APM match job seekers with roles that fit their strengths and aspirations.

Focusing on strengths is a big part of APM's strategy.

“We like to focus on their strengths so that their employment can be maintained and then help them along the way if they need extra help,” Amelia says.

This approach ensures participants focus on finding roles that are suitable and sustainable.

Sean, a participant in Disability Employment Services, experienced this support from Amelia and his local APM team firsthand.

As well as the health condition Crohn’s disease, Sean faced challenges like long-term unemployment and low confidence.

APM's personalised support helped him find a job that suited him.

“Once I got to know APM, they were really good,” Sean recalls.

“I actually sat down and I felt like my voice was heard from my perspective as to what I was after and what I needed from an employment agency.”

Ongoing support is another crucial element. Amelia and her team regularly check in with job seekers to ensure everything is going well.

“Every week or fortnight I was getting phone calls, making sure everything was going OK. If I needed any help or I needed, you know, anything from them, they were there for me and they still continue to be there for me,” Sean says.

This consistent support helps participants feel confident and supported.

APM also focuses on mental health and wellbeing.

This holistic approach means APM is there for participants in many aspects of their lives.

Amelia and her team are dedicated to helping people who may feel undervalued.

“We look to nurture people who feel like they don't have any worth. Society makes them feel like that. And with a lot of positive reinforcement, I think dreams can be made,” she says.

This encouragement helps build confidence and motivates participants to pursue their goals.
