Gosha moves from caregiver to charity champion

Helping others has always been at the heart of Gosha’s work and life.

Before she left employment to care for her elderly parents, Gosha – short for Malgorzata – was a registered nurse.

After more than five years out of the workforce, finding a path back to her previous career was challenging.

It was made more difficult with Gosha’s health condition that includes acute back pain, a shoulder condition and anxiety.

Coming to APM Employment Services for support, Gosha was able to join Disability Employment Services to prepare for, find and secure a new role.

After her registration expired, Gosha was told she would need to work with 12 months supervision to re-enrol as a nurse.

Looking at new options, but keen to stay in the health industry, Gosha worked with her dedicated APM employment consultant Jo to explore opportunities.

Jo had spent time with Gosha and was eager to find a job where she could use her transferable skills in a fulfilling role.

With Gosha’s positive and enjoyable personality, and engagement with other people, Jo suggested possible retail and customer service roles.

It was a new direction for Gosha, and it didn’t take them long to see her succeed.

After a referral to a contact sales position, Gosha first impressed in an interview before securing a role selling charity calendars in shopping centres.

Gosha was an immediate hit with her employer.

Not only did she exceed her sales targets – raising vital funds for multiple charities - she has grown her skills and enthusiastically taken on greater responsibility.

Now thriving in employment Gosha is looking towards regional supervisor roles and building on her career success.
