Jump starting jobs in Geraldton

This Jump Start campaign, which aims to place 15 job seekers into work in four weeks, has kicked off with a forum of employers to provide them with more information about APM and the free employment services the company provides.

"APM has run a number of successful and inventive employment campaigns and our expectation is that this one in Geraldton will be no different," said APM's Group Chief Executive Officer, Michael Hobday.

"By using our free services, employers are able to source staff, as well as reap the rewards of employing people with disability, which include promoting a more diverse workforce.

"They can also take advantage of the comprehensive post-placement support that APM provides."

This is the fourth such employment campaign that APM has run in Australia in the past year. The others have been in the western suburbs of Melbourne and the Coffs Coast and Clarence Valley areas in regional NSW.

Mr Hobday said improvements to the overall health of people with disability who secure employment are invaluable.

"Having a job to go to regularly symbolises so much more than having an income," he said.

"There are well-documented social and psychological benefits and these positive impacts increase over time when a job seeker is placed into work."

Employers in Geraldton are encouraged to make contact with the local APM team to find out more information about the campaign, which is being run in partnership with the National Disability Coordination Officer Programme.
