Support for First Nations Apprentices in trades

At APM, we’re proud to walk alongside First Nations apprentices throughout their journey in the trades industries.

As Victoria’s only First Nations Specialist Apprentice Connect provider, we offer culturally safe, respectful, and personalised support to help you succeed.

Financial Incentives

Australian Apprentice Training Support Payment (AATSP)

Up to $5,000 over two years for apprentices in Priority List trades:

  • Full-time: $1,750 at 6 & 12 months, $750 at 18 & 24 months
  • Part-time: $875 at 6 & 12 months, $375 at 18 & 24 months


Key Apprenticeship Program (KAP)

Earn up to $10,000 (full-time) or $5,000 (part-time) across your apprenticeship in housing construction or clean energy trades:

  • Full-time: $2,000 at 6, 12, 24, 36 months and on completion
  • Part-time: $1,000 at 6, 12, 24, 36 months and on completion


Living Away from Home Allowance (LAFHA)

If you’ve moved away from home or are homeless:

  • $120/week in Year 1
  • $90/week in Year 2
  • $45/week in Year 3


Apprenticeship Support Loans (AASL)

Flexible loans to help cover everyday costs like tools, transport, and living expenses. Learn more.
