On Sunday 24th April, Rob Houlston who works on our National Citizen Service (NCS) contract in the West Midlands is running the London Marathon.

This is the 36th annual London marathon which will see Rob tackle the gruelling 26.2 mile course around some of London's famous landmarks starting in Greenwich park and finishing on the Mall with around 35,000 others.

The race is televised on the BBC and this year you can even track Rob and any other friends and family doing the race on the website using the race number. Rob's number is 35262, his target time is an impressive 3hr 20mins, which would beat his previous London marathon time of 3hr 27mins when he last completed it five years ago.

The London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet - runners have raised over £700 million for good causes since the race began in 1981. Rob is running for the miscarriage association, a charity close to his heart after personal experiences and is aiming to raise £1500.

On asked about the run and fundraising Rob said: "Training has gone well, running up to 60 miles a week including a long run of up to 22 miles is never easy especially when juggling work and family, it's meant some very early starts and late night runs! The hard work is done now though with training and it's about being ready for race day, which I'm now really looking forward to.

"I'm proud to be running and raising money for the miscarriage association, it great to know that I'm able to make a difference through something I enjoy. I've been blown away by all the friends and colleagues who have sponsored me so generously, and I would like express my sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who has sponsored me."

We would like to wish Rob the very best of luck in this challenge. For anyone still wishing to sponsor him you can do so through the following link: http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/RobHoulston
