Enoch and Ingeus Singapore

A love for helping others helps Enoch find new direction

Enoch is a Chartered Accountant specialising in taxation and tax planning.

He’s enjoyed a long and successful career, but as he looked ahead, he realised he wanted a change.

He was looking for a direction for his next career that was secure and could sustain him over the next ten or 20 years.

A friend recommended he speak to Ingeus, where he met Maureen, a Coach and Development Specialist with the Polaris Programme.

She recalls meeting Enoch for the first time, “My first impression of Enoch is that he’s a professional, and he is also a veteran in his field.

“He was basically looking for advice on job security - how, in his current role and the work that he does, how to keep that job. Also, to plan into the future from where he is now to his retirement, and if better still, beyond retirement.”

Enoch wanted a programme that could help him understand himself better.

He found this with Polaris. The programme is about self-discovery.

Together, Enoch and Maureen explored and identified his skills and strengths, and how to make the most of them to enhance his career options and opportunities.

They looked at whether his current employer is the right place to do this, and explored where the right place might be.

Enoch took on these learnings and advice and started to look at his role. “The real impact was when I had my career coach’s meeting. That’s where I connected the programme into what I’m looking for as a whole.

“They’re asking the right questions that let me really think. That links back to the programme and all the modules that talk about motivation, self-discovery, support, and networking. It all comes together.”

What Enoch discovered about himself through the short and long-term programme is that what he loves is customer service, customer success, and helping clients solve their problems.

Maureen reflects on Enoch’s journey, “You know, I think he could actually see that there is a plan going forward. And so there is an excitement in it, there is hope, and it builds up the confidence.”

For Enoch, Polaris gave him everything he wanted. “The programme structure, the career coaches, how they handle it, and then the soft part, the human touch, it comes up with a package that really fits what I’m looking for.”
