Olga and Ingeus Switzerland

Olga had a great life in Ukraine.

Her whole family was always together. They travelled a lot and could do whatever they wanted. Then the war began.

She and her daughter were forced to flee first to Romania, then to Italy and finally Switzerland.

Thanks to her hard work, determination, and the help of the team at Ingeus, part of APM Group, she has been able to make a new life in Switzerland that is literally surrounded by beauty.

She says, “For me, it's very beautiful to live in Switzerland. It's very clean and safe here. My daughter is able to go to a great school. I think that I have a great future here.”

This future began when she was directed to Ingeus, where she met Elena, who worked with Olga to help her find meaningful employment. At first, Elena focused on Olga’s knowledge of sign language, but it was such a specific skill that translating that to work was difficult. However, in the process of getting to know her, Elena quickly realised that Olga’s passion lay elsewhere.

Elena remembers, “It was getting really clear, and she told me in her coaching, that she absolutely loves to do makeup, do hairstyles, and just the general beauty aspect. The main challenge was the language. But we knew that her language would improve over time.”

The final essential piece in this story is finding employment. Just as Ingeus works with people like Olga, they also work with employers to find roles and fill them with good people.

Elena found the perfect role for Olga at a beauty salon, Schminkbar. Her new employer, Kim, says, “I realised from the first day on that Olga is a really ambitious person… She really shows that she wants to work and it’s easy to see that is her passion!”

One of the keys for Kim was how easy Ingeus made it. “Everything was straightforward with Ingeus. It was a very fast process. When we received the offer everything had already been sorted out and been presented on a silver platter by Ingeus.”

The great benefit of connecting Olga and Kim is that it has the potential to flow into the community. Kim has a message for other employers, “Something I would love to tell other employers is to have more courage. We’ve got nothing to lose in employing foreign people, but we can gain a lot when everything works out.”

And the clear impact Ingeus had on Olga was, “Ingeus helped me a lot and I found my dream job”
