Sabrina and Ingeus Switzerland

From an unstable childhood to a stable job working with children — Sabrina’s success story.

Growing up in Kenya without a mother or father and being badly mistreated, made life hard for Sabrina.

After a brief reunion with her mother in Switzerland, which didn’t work out, she found herself homeless, which made looking for a job even harder — especially with her ongoing mental health problems.

Then Sabrina got in touch with Ingeus - part of APM Group - and with help from her coach Elena, found the confidence and hope she needed. Plus, a job!

"The biggest help for me at that time was being at Ingeus. My coach Elena did an amazing job in finding me new work.

"She helped me come back to life because before she was there, I had kind of given up on everything.

"Without the job coaching program, I think I wouldn’t be at my current job and wouldn’t have come further in terms of self-development."

Elena knows how difficult it was for Sabrina to embark on finding a job, after what she’d been through,

"It is not easy to stick to a strict routine after having no job for such a long time. We had to rebuild all of that. It worked out really well, so already after the second or third application we were successful. It was a really beautiful story."

Sabrina’s coach organised a trial session for a position at a daycare centre, to see if Sabrina would be the right fit. The head of the center was delighted:

"During this trial day we got such a positive impression of Sabrina. She was handling the kids very well, she communicated well and that showed us, that she is extremely motivated to learn this job. That’s why we decided to hire her."

Now, Sabrina is grateful to have a job she enjoys and is more positive about the future.

"I am very happy with my new job. I look forward to getting up in the morning, because I’m happy to see the kids and my colleagues.

"My social environment is very stable at the moment, and my family reunited, which is something that wasn’t possible in a long time. So I am very happy that finally everything is working out, as it should."
