Tetiana and Ingeus Germany

Tetiana never imagined she’d be starting over in a new country.

In March 2022, she arrived in Germany from Kyiv, Ukraine, believing the war would be short-lived.

“I thought the war would end quickly,” she recalls. “And that after three or four months, I could go back home.”

But as weeks turned into months, the reality set in. The war continued, and Tetiana faced a difficult truth: her life couldn’t remain on hold.

“Then I realised that it won’t go by that fast. And that I couldn’t keep my life on pause any longer.”

Adapting to a new world

With quiet resolve, Tetiana began learning German. It was more than just a language—it was a lifeline.

“It became quite clear to me that I wanted and was able to grow in Germany.” Her openness and determination didn’t go unnoticed.

That’s when she connected with StruktUA, a program run by Ingeus – part of APM Group - to support Ukrainian refugees on their path to professional integration in Germany.

The program offers more than just practical help, it offers hope.

From translating qualifications and preparing job applications to practising interviews and navigating the job market, StruktUA became a guiding hand.

Martina, a team member at Ingeus, remembers Tetiana’s first steps in the program vividly.

“You could tell from the beginning that she had an open personality. She has very good general knowledge, great commercial skills and simply excellent German skills.”

Finding meaningful work

Through StruktUA, Tetiana was matched with a potential employer.

Leyla, who worked closely with Ingeus during the hiring process, described the collaboration as “simple and straightforward.”

She appreciated the transparency and the detailed understanding of Tetiana’s skills. “We could get a clear picture of what to expect. And yes, it was very pleasant to work together.”

Then came a moment Tetiana will never forget.

Just before Christmas, her job contract was signed.

“Tetiana told us with shining eyes, that this was her greatest gift,” Leyla shared. “That in January she could finally start working here.”

For Tetiana, it was a return to purpose.

“I immediately called all my friends and told them that I got a job here again. It’s a really great feeling.”

Today, Tetiana is thriving and her story shows how resilience and compassion can help people overcome incredible challenges.
