Wanlin and Ingeus Singapore

Wanlin finds the confidence to move forward.

Wanlin is a food technologist working for a European MNC company selling food ingredients in Singapore.

While she’s built a good career in this industry, she realised she wanted to make a career switch but didn’t know how to move beyond her current skills and experience to be accepted in a new role with a new career path.

One of her biggest challenges was getting qualifications, “I find it very difficult in the Singapore environment, especially if you don’t have the certification for the industry,” she explains.

That’s why she’s come to Ingeus and the Polaris Programme.

Designed for Singaporeans and PR people currently in the workforce.

Polaris supports people who want to take a deeper dive into their career, whether they are transitioning, looking to get a promotion, or want to give their careers a push in the right direction.

Wanlin had been exploring career counselling options, and one factor drew her to Polaris - it’s subsidised by the Singapore government.

For her, this means more than making it more affordable, it gives her confidence in the programme.

“This gave me trust that the advice I get would help me to pave my career path in the local market.”

Grace, Wanlin’s Coaching and Development Specialist, describes the process.

“We will be able to help them through different instruments, assessment tools and of course guidance to look at how we can help them to move forwards.”

The combination of professional counselling and additional resources gives Wanlin exactly what she needs. In addition to the counselling, she’s been “pleasantly surprised” by the depth and breadth of advice and support.

“Grace, as my counsellor, actually provided me with a lot of additional information about where I can possibly get information on funding, skill upgrades, opportunities, and also to find out more about myself to evaluate what I really like.”

The industry experience and qualifications of the programme’s counsellors have made all the difference.

With their guidance, she can see what her future can look like.

“I’m feeling much more confident now to actually move towards that pathway.”
