Career guidance for young people through Transition to Work transcript

Amanda: It's a youth employment program operated by the federal government targeting 15 to 24 year olds who are not engaged in full-time study or education to essentially close that gap.

Some of the journeys that we've seen working with youth previously will be things like picking somebody up sort of out of that school system where it might not quite have been the right fit or they may have had other barriers going on that was preventing them from being successful at school. Engaging with our staff to actually understand what are your goals, what are your challenges, what do you actually need help with? So don't be afraid of hiring a young person. They are pretty savvy. They're pretty flexible. They're pretty invested in the things that they want to be able to achieve. They just need that mentorship.

And for us, this is about personality matching. If you know what you want to do, our job is to hear you, help you make that pathway. So yeah, don't be shy in what you want. And if you don't know what you want, that's okay too, tell us that and we will have the tools and the systems to actually help you unpack that. Because at the end of the day, you take someone into your business, it's like taking them into your family. So we want to be there for that journey and make sure that it works.
