Karl’s employer is full of praise

All the signs were there for Karl’s new career, with Ashlee’s help

Karl was a job seeker in Pialba, Queensland – located about four hours north of Brisbane, near Fraser Island.

Employment Consultant Ashlee recalls Karl being part of her first caseload when she joined APM Pialba.

When Ashlee met Karl face-to-face, she noticed he lacked confidence and motivation due to his long-term unemployment.

“It had been over a decade since Karl had worked, and he had struggled to change that by himself” Ashlee said.

“He wanted to secure a job so he could be a great dad for his son.”

They worked together on some career options for Karl, agreeing on Traffic Control.

Even when some last-minute changes to the traffic control course he was completing caused his motivation to wobble, with encouragement and determination Karl was able to successfully complete the course!

It was after this point Ashlee noticed positive changes in Karl – a notable increase in his confidence motivated him to start marketing himself to employers in his local area.

And when he walked into the Shield Traffic office, he secured himself a job!

Kerrin, the Manager at Shield Traffic sung Karl’s praises:

“The thing that stands out about Karl is that he mustered up the courage to walk into our office” she said.

“It was clear he was nervous and had been knocked down many times. He showed incredible resilience and strength, he embraced his vulnerability and used it to find strength.”

She further commends the positive first impression Karl made:

“When I met Karl, I saw someone who despite all odds was not giving up.”

Equally impressive was how Karl stayed positive and professional in the workplace, choosing to be diligent in his work and negotiating workplace conflicts with maturity.

The APM Pialba team, Ashlee and Kerrin can all agree and attest to Karl’s growth in the last six months and could not be prouder of him!
