Young people from Nuneaton and Chelmsley Wood hope to raise £500.00 for Cancer Research as part of an NCS social action project.

The group have been undertaking a range of fundraising activities, including bucket donation and a 14-mile sponsored cycle around Nuneaton.

Their latest initiative has seen the group host a public tea party in conjunction with local Manor Court Care Home, with proceeds to be split between the care home and their chosen charity.

It has been a summer to remember for the young people, who are all Study Programme students with APM, with course tutors introducing them to the NCS programme, also managed by the company.

APM's Zara Ford, said: "The students have just completed their two week residential and are now working together to help raise money for Cancer Research as part of their social action project.

"The NCS experience has really helped them to bond as a group. They've all become Facebook friends whilst doing something positive for their community at the same time. We even have a budding romance in the group!"

Having raised some £317.68, the group are appealing for any further donations to be made via the Just Giving page they have established.

NCS takes place during the spring, summer and autumn school holidays all across the West Midlands. Young people and their parents can register their interest today on www.ncsyes.co.uk.
