Working for a better future
Melanie wasn’t sure how she reached out for help.
Today, she is working in a successful healthcare career.
After experiencing unemployment and injuring her ankle, Melanie struggled to find employment.
The team at Dynamic Workforce Solutions helped give her the support to get what she needed to succeed through the Choices program.
“Without the help of Arree and Lindsey I don't know where I would be right now” Melanie said.
The Choices program assists people looking for work to transition to work by building the skills they need to sustain employment.
This is done through participation in work-related activities. including job search and job readiness classes, basic skills training, education, vocational training, and support services.
Knowing things will get better
Melanie began working with Arree and Lindsay, and through an employment planning session they got an idea of her goals.
She wanted a career which supported her needs as a parent to four children.
“The Choices program can actually provide a lot of different supports” program manager Arree said.
Melanie was guided through the job application process, with her motivation steadily increasing.
Workforce Dynamics also assisted Melanie to purchase her work uniform and assist with transport costs.
“(Melanie) just needed that motivation and the rock to push her forward, and once she overcomes the obstacles that were in her place, you could see her come to life” career navigator Lindsey said.
Since gaining employment, Melanie has progressed in her role as a medication aid to becoming a team leader, even securing a raise within her first month of employment.
“With this opportunity, I'm so excited to be able to work with people and climb the ladder and be the best mom that I can be” Melanie said.
