The call coincides with International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) which is tomorrow (Wednesday 3 December).
APM's Group Chief Executive Officer, Michael Hobday, said: "International Day for People with Disability is another great opportunity to acknowledge the enormous value of having a diverse workforce, including people with disability.
"With one in five Australians living with disability, getting more people with disability into jobs is not only positive for them, it is highly beneficial for the community, society and employers.
"Over one million working-age people with disability are in paid employment in Australia, with the flow-on effects including improved physical and mental health, financial independence, and a better standard of living. APM is keen to hear from any employer who would like to increase the number of Australians with disability who work in their organisation."
As part of IDPwD, APM is holding numerous events across Australia, including:
- Baulkham Hills, NSW - A Baulkham Hills Equality Day event is being held;
- Gawler, SA - A morning tea to bring together providers, job seekers and community organisations is taking place; and
- Geraldton, WA - Wheelchair basketball and beach volleyball on the foreshore, a visit to a local art exhibition featuring clients' work and a sunset screening of the documentary The Ride, an award-winning feature about the journey of three paraplegic people and one quadriplegic person across the Australian outback.
