APM team members across Australia will be encouraged to add an extra colour to their wardrobe on Friday 27 August in support of Wear it Purple Day.

The annual event aims to foster supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive environments for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The importance of Wear it Purple Day

Wear it Purple Day was founded over a decade ago after a global response to stories of young people experiencing bullying and harassment due to a lack of acceptance of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Today, it is a day of solidarity and symbol of hope for young people across the globe.

By showing support and acceptance as allies to the LGBTQIA+ community, workplaces can actively create an environment where individuals can be visible, and proud of who they are.

Supporting our people

APM’s values of Integrity, Customer Focus, Respect, Empathy, Achievement, Teamwork and Enthusiasm, (ICREATE) are aligned with the goals of Wear it Purple Day.

We strive to live up to these values with all our customers, clients and team members and we appreciate everyone’s differences in identity, thought and personalities.

We also celebrate the achievements and welcome members of the LGBTIQA+ community with the Pride@APM employee resource group. (ERG)

Start the conversation…Keep it going

This year’s theme for Wear it Purple day is 'Start the conversation… Keep it going'.

We encourage all our customers and team members to enable each other to feel welcome, respected, and confident in themselves and in their interactions with APM.
