With a bit of support, people can go on to do amazing things!

APM are proud to share the good news that Colleen Forbes has won the Learn Local Ro Allen Award for 2020!

Colleen is a proud Kurnai Gunai woman from the stunning Victorian region of Gippsland.

This award is a remarkable milestone on Colleen’s career journey to date.

Encouraged by her APM Employment Consultant Danielle through the jobactive program, Colleen enrolled in the Learn Local Kickstart course in Hospitality and Retail course at Community College Gippsland.

Form there, she blossomed into the workforce at Woolworths and as a future educator in her local Koorie clan.

She was nominated for the Learn Local award this year, with the winners announced on 9 December.

The Ro Allen Award recognises pre-accredited learner excellence and the achievements of people aged between 25 and 65 years participating in ACFE Board funded pre-accredited programs at Learn Local providers across Victoria.

The award is given to a learner that has established pathways for themselves into further education, employment, or volunteer roles as a result of their participation in an ACFE Board funded pre-accredited program.

With the assistance of the APM Warragul Team, Colleen was supported through the process to win this fantastic award.

Her Employment Consultant Glenda Smith was present for the award announcement along with Colleen’s mother, two aunts, a friend and her daughter.

Colleen is determined to spread her message and story to as many people as possible. She is an inspiration to the Kurnai Gunai people.

Congratulations Colleen, we wish you all the successes in your bright future!
