How we provide Career Transition Assistance for mature participants transcript

Speaker 1: We're a specialist program. We work with people who are over 45 years and over and help them with their journey to employment. It's a training program up to eight weeks. We provide 75 hours of assistance, usually in small groups, but there's some individual assistance as well. People who are over 45, have an amazing array skills and experience that can be used in the workforce. They just don't know how to access it. We'll spend a lot of time talking to them about their transferable skills and how they fit into the current labor market.

And then once we've established that with them, we'll look at what their goals are. We can provide them with individual assistance. Come and spend time with a group. They'll get to meet new people and make new friends in the course. But at the same time, they'll have that individual support. We will help them on their journey that, we're going to be spending a lot of time with them. Time that they wouldn't normally get in employment services. APM provides an individual service. Every single client that comes to us has their own computer, and they have a trainer there to support them through every step of the way. We want to provide that service for people so that they feel like that someone's listening, and someone's listening to the type of work that they want to do. And that we will actually provide them with the support that they need to get into work.
