Adam, who lives with Down syndrome, was given a paid work placement with the minor premiership winners with support from Down Syndrome NSW and the APM Futures team.

APM Futures help young people with disability to access NDIS employment supports, with Adam participating in the School Leavers Employment Supports program.

Since Adam came to APM in 2022, he has been working to achieve his goals including improving his communication, confidence, and listening skills.

Adam’s ultimate goal was to find a role in the sports industry, which came after the Sydney Swans in collaboration with Down Syndrome NSW, agreed to provide Adam with the training he needed to succeed.

“Adam’s integration into the Sydney Swans family has been remarkable,” said APM’s Senior Engagement Consultant William Ortiz.

“His growth is evident not just in his professional skills but also in his personal development.”

Adam is set to join the Sydney Swans AFL Grand Final parade through Melbourne on Friday, and will be part of Saturday’s Grand Final opening event, with a chance to meet pop superstar Katy Perry.
