Hesitant at first

Naomi admits she hadn’t done anything like this before.

Never experienced the support of a job provider until now.

ParentsNext is an Australian government program delivered by APM in Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

The program is aimed at supporting parents with young children to reach their employment goals while balancing their family commitments.

For mother of four Naomi, she wasn’t sure she could get back into working.

With the support of her ParentsNext Parent and Family Pathway Planner Belinda, she has made a confident start in a new career.

A wonderful change

Naomi’s advice for parents thinking about ParentsNext after her experience is to accept every bit of help and advice and to jump into every opportunity.

“Belinda definitely supported (me) all the way through, so it was fantastic” Naomi said.

Naomi began studying her Certificate IV through Warner Institute, a private registered training organisation.

“Anyone who is thinking about or just starting with ParentsNext, I can’t recommend them highly enough” Partnerships Manager from the Warner Institute Alison said.

“It really is about empowering people to make changes within their lives.”

When Naomi began her studies, something clicked into place.

“The change in Naomi didn’t take long” Belinda said.

“Once Naomi was opened up to options and possibilities, it wasn’t hard for Naomi to get excited about education.”

When Naomi completed her studies in Aged Care, she had already secured employment by the time she graduated.

Watching her receive her certificate was a moving moment for Belinda.

“It was a journey well taken, I think.”
