As you might expect the road to Rio is keenly contested.
Kate took a big leap towards a slot at Rio on Saturday, February 20 when she won gold in the paratriathlon event at the 2016 Devonport OTU Oceania Championships.
Last year Kate secured a top six finish at the world championships by winning the bronze medal, but her Gold at Devonport takes her closer to Rio still.
Not only did Kate win the event and take out first place in the PT4 woman's division, but she also set a "personal best" - with a sensational six minute lead over the next athlete.
Kate now turns her attention to the final Rio qualifier on April 24 in Penrith. Needless to say APM is proud of Kate's efforts and we will be barracking for a win!
Well done Kate, and good luck for your quest to bring home Rio gold!
