What’s different about Workforce Australia?

If you’re unemployed, but ready to find and start work in a job, you will be registered with Workplace Australia Online.

You can access your account via workforceaustralia.gov.au or the Workforce Australia app.

This platform will allow you to:

  • Carry out your own job search and your job reporting requirements
  • Sign up for online programs to increase or gain new skills
  • Access tools to help with online learning and job searching
  • Contact the Digital Services Contact Centre via phone or email for help
  • Apply for financial help for job requirements such as police checks, completing micro-credentials such as white cards

If you’ve been invited to join Workforce Australia Online but would like to have the support of a Workforce Australia provider instead, contact your local APM Employment Services team to see if we can help.

What support do I get with Workforce Australia Services and APM?

If you want additional support from APM Employment Services, or another provider, you may be eligible for enhanced Workforce Australia Services.

This gives you most of the Workforce Australia Online support as well as:

  • Face to face and in-person (where possible) support with a dedicated employment consultant
  • Opportunity to join Work for the Dole to gain skills and micro-credentials alongside gaining work-like experiences

What do Workforce Australia providers do?

Workforce Australia employment service providers, such as APM Employment Services, help you get job ready and look for work.

If you need more support than Digital Services you may be designated for Enhanced Services – which is simply more help tailored to your needs.

This personalised support may include activities, group learning, interview practice, help with using a computer and other practical help to get you ready to be searching for work.

You also get support to make a good start with a new employer and keep a job as your situation changes.

APM Employment Services will also support you with:

  • Career guidance, mentoring and vocational training
  • Work experience, job placements and post-placement support
  • Help to get tools and skills you need to find and keep a job. (This can include training, work-related licencing, relocation assistance and other work-related services)
  • Programs that recognise skills and micro-credentials alongside gaining work-like experiences
  • Reporting your mutual obligations and looking for jobs

What about jobactive?

The jobactive program was replaced by Workforce Australia in July 2022.
