Support for his family

ParentsNext hasn’t just improved Nathan’s life.

Nathan is a single father who wanted to improve the lives of his two young boys.

ParentsNext is an Australian government program delivered by APM in Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

The program is aimed at supporting parents with young children to reach their employment goals while balancing their family commitments.

Initially unsure of how the program would have benefits for his family, Nathan was concerned about the impact it would have on him and son Jackson.

Moving in the right direction

From the beginning, Nathan’s ParentsNext Parent and Family Pathway Planner Belinda was supportive of him and Jackson.

“I reassured Nathan that he could bring Jackson along to appointments, that we are very kid-friendly” Belinda said.

“APM have helped me with a lot of the setting up for courses, and what to look at next to try and gain employment” Nathan said.

On top of the employment support, Belinda referred Nathan and Jackson to one of the supported playgroups run by Save the Children.

She knew that environment would have supports for Nathan with Jackson’s behavioural issues he was experiencing.

After just one session, Nathan received significant support and direction for him and Jackson.

The ParentsNext program helped Nathan and his family work towards his goals, and their goals as a family.
