The winner of APM and Celebrate WA's Six Seasons Trail art competition has been selected with a lucky Perth family taking home an exclusive Indigenous painting.
WA artist Peter Farmer Jr’s painting was on display throughout the WA Day Festival and families were given the chance to win the artwork by visiting all six installations that made up the Noongar Six Season Trail at the two-day festival.
Hundreds of families took part in collecting the stamps and entering the draw at APM’s information marquee.
After all the entries were collected, the winner was drawn at random with Karina White-Kane and her family drawn at random.
“It’s such a lovely Aboriginal artwork. The colours are so vibrant and the children love it. My eldest son was really taken by the turtles so he’s very happy we get to keep it,” she said.
Karina’s husband Joe said they were thrilled to take home the prize after enjoying the WA Day Festival.
“It was such a wonderful festival and the Indigenous artwork is a great way to see some of the rich heritage that WA has,” he said.
Karina was joined by her two sons Elya, 4, and Donnacha, 2, and her husband Joe when she was presented the artwork by APM CEO and Celebrate WA Chair Michael Anghie.
“We had thousands of families visit the Six Seasons Trail at Elizabeth Quay over the WA Day Festival and the competition to win this painting by Peter Farmer Jr was incredibly popular.
“It is a fantastic painting which reflects the significance of our local Indigenous culture and history in Western Australia. I’m delighted Karina and her family will enjoy it.”
