Jason powers through roadblocks with Inclusive Employment Australia

Jason knows exactly what it means to show up for his family.

Living on the outskirts of Launceston, he spent a decade focusing on his personal life before deciding to rejoin the workforce.

However, the path back to a steady career in the manufacturing industry came with significant hurdles.

See how Jason accessed Inclusive Employment Australia services through APM to overcome transport barriers, earn his driver licence, and secure a full-time career in Launceston.

With a long gap in his resume and no personal transport to bridge the distance between his home and the local industrial hubs, Jason needed more than just a job lead.

He needed a partner to help him navigate the logistics of a fresh start.

Distance proved to be one of the biggest walls Jason faced.

Without a driver’s licence or car, he relied on public transport which rarely aligned with early morning shift times.

Jason was also navigating a complex personal chapter, balancing a recent separation and the shared custody of his young daughter.

He wanted a stable, full-time role to provide for his family while maintaining his responsibilities as a father, but the lack of recent experience and mobility made that goal feel difficult to reach.

Everything changed when Jason walked into the APM Launceston office and met his Employment Consultant, Nat.

Rather than seeing a list of obstacles, Nat saw a determined worker ready to build a new life.

Together, they jumped into an active plan to cover every base. Nat helped Jason polish a professional resume and draft cover letters that highlighted his potential.

To ensure he was site-ready, APM supported him in gaining his White Card and Responsible Service of Alcohol certifications.

APM also arranged driving lessons to help Jason gain the mobility he needed to access more opportunities.

The results of this partnership are life-changing.

After a successful work trial and a period of steady employment supported by an APM wage subsidy, Jason took a massive leap forward.

He now works as a full-time Window Fabricator with Titane Windows and Doors.

“APM was extremely helpful in getting me two different jobs and helping me to get my licence. Always a pleasant experience,” Jason says.

This is more than just a job for Jason. It is the realisation of a long-term goal.

During his time in the role, he also achieved a major milestone by earning his probationary driver’s licence and purchasing his own vehicle.

With Nat providing weekly check-ins to ensure everything stayed on track, Jason now successfully balances the demands of a physical labour role with his most important job as a dad.

"Jason’s journey has truly resonated with me and my team," Nat says.

"Not only has he secured employment, but he’s also accomplished his personal goal of obtaining full-time work in a labouring role. He has also shown real determination in earning his licence."

With a reliable car in the driveway and a full-time career, Jason is looking forward to a stable future.
