Josh's drive powers his employment success

Josh had a vision for a better life, but his circumstances made it hard to see a clear path forward.

Living in a rooftop tent at a riverside park and running his lawn care and property maintenance business from the same spot, he was determined to break away from minimum wage jobs and create something of his own.

That’s when he connected with APM Moruya and was referred to the Self-Employment Assistance program.

Despite being able to pause the program due to his living situation, Josh chose to push forward with the commitment of the course.

Driven to change his life for himself and his children, Josh’s determination paid off.

“I was living in my car for quite a while, in and out of jail, and suffered from drug addiction prior to the business course,” he said.

“I wanted a change in life and to show my kids a better life and be a better father.”

With guidance from his APM consultant Donna, Josh gained the structure and mentorship he needed to build his business.

He learned how to manage finances, market his services, and grow professionally. The support helped him build confidence and take control of his future.

Josh’s commitment didn’t go unnoticed.

He was nominated for the BizCover Change Award in recognition of his dedication to his business and personal growth.

His motivation has always been his children.

“One of the most crucial factors in my success was proving that I wasn’t who I was labelled to be. My kids were my motivation, 100 percent.”

Today, Josh’s South Coast Property Maintenance is operating full-time and generating strong revenue.

He’s planning to expand and continue building a better future for himself and his family.

“This course taught me everything I needed to know about starting and running a business. It pushed me to become a successful business owner and put my past life behind me,” he said.
