It’s easy to feel like giving up when you’ve been out of work for a while, but job seeker William Sugg has shared how APM helped him keep going in his search for work.
William had become disillusioned after handing out hundreds of resumes for more than a year without any luck.
After registering with APM Employment Services he said the support helped him regain his motivation and find a successful job that makes him happy.
William is now a disability support worker for ExcelCare in Queensland, a job that matched his previous experience of caring for other people.

Caring role is a passion
WHILE going through some businesses tough times in his life, William Sugg said the prospect of finding work he really enjoyed looked bleak.
That was about a year ago when, the Childers man said, he was handing out hundreds of resumes to find a job.
But fast forward to now and his situation has changed dramatically.
Mr Sugg started work for human services agency ExcelCare recently, thanks to help from APM Employment Services.
“I had been unemployed for over a year and to be honest I was getting to the point where I was ready to give up,” he said.
“I was starting to become disillusioned but Shane Olive from APM helped to keep me motivated.”
Mr Sugg said his life had completely turned around thanks to his new-found employment.
“I had gone through a marriage breakdown and had to come back from interstate, I was just at a bit of a low point,” he said.
“I love what I am doing now.
“I was going stir-crazy at home just doing nothing.”
Mr Sugg, who is a casual disability in-home support worker, said he had previously worked in dementia wards and had personal experience with caring for others, which was what made him so passionate about his current role.
“I go to people’s homes and help them with things they need to do around the house, help them better their lives and take them out and about,” he said.
“I have one gentleman who I am teaching to read and write.
“It is extremely rewarding work.”
ExcelCare’s Wide Bay NDIS co-ordinator, Jade Law, said it was Mr Sugg’s calm nature that made him a great people person.
“William listens and is responsive to people’s needs,” she said.
“He is able to support people the way they want to be treated and this is very important to them.
“He always asks for direction or help when needed and is interested in learning and developing his skills within the disability industry.”
