Quaid's on the road to success

Quaid came to APM with a background in event logistics and mechanics, despite not having formal qualifications.

His love for cars was evident, but he faced significant challenges, including anxiety, depression, and chronic shoulder pain from a past injury.

While he was eligible to join the Disability Employment Services program, these obstacles often left Quaid feeling uncertain and frustrated about his career path.

Then he met Ben at APM Employment Services in Benalla.

Quaid's dedicated employment consultant, Ben started helping him define his interests, update his resume, and explore job opportunities that aligned with his passion for cars.

Recognising Quaid's potential, Ben reached out to local car dealerships to find a suitable position.

During this time, Quaid moved in with his grandparents, gaining additional support that significantly boosted his confidence and outlook.

Ben noticed this positive change and seized the opportunity to arrange an interview for Quaid at a local Ford dealership for a car detailing position.

To ensure Quaid was fully prepared, Ben provided interview coaching, boosting Quaid's confidence and helping him present his best self.

The hard work paid off - Quaid secured a casual position at the dealership.

And to support Quaid’s employment, Ben organised a wage subsidy for the employer during his training period.

Plus APM provided Quaid with a fuel voucher for his commute, and some required work boots.

Quaid's dedication and high standards quickly impressed his new employer, and he was soon offered a permanent part-time position, thanks to his strong work ethic and exceptional performance in car detailing.

The team at Ford welcomed Quaid with open arms, appreciating his positive and bubbly attitude.

“Quaid has fit into the business really well,” his employer shared.

“He just gets stuck into what he’s been asked to do without hesitation. He started off with a simple role but within a short period of time, he was being trusted with a lot more technical responsibilities because he has proved himself well.

“We love having him around as he always has a positive and bubbly attitude.”

On the road to more success

Quaid's journey didn't stop there.

Achieving his goal of financial independence, he moved out of his grandparents' home and into his own place.

He recently shared with Ben how much he enjoys his job, the new friends he's made, and the supportive, friendly environment at work.
